Keelan Completes the Cotswold Marathon
Unit member Keelan Tootell from Dursley entered and completed the Cotswold Marathon in February. He chose to do the Gold team event which is 36 miles long and covers the excruciating hills of Robinswood Hill, Coopers Hill, Birdlip, Bisley and Bulls Cross.
His team started at 5.15pm and after 2 1/2hours, Keelan says “the fog arrived making things tricky and the next 4 miles took 2 hours!”
“At checkpoint 10 I lost my team as they were too tired to go on and I latched on to a team from Worcester to complete the hike. Running the last mile, I finished at 5.14am. My feet were sore and blistered having walked through fog, light rain, mud and mud and mud while carrying a rucksack packed with essential items. This marathon was certainly a challenge, but the £660 sponsorship money encouraged me on during the dark hours.”
